The Arch is one of the most strongest, bold and definitive architectural forms that has stood the test of time. The Arch embodies a very prominent and classical architectural style. The Arch is a curved vertical structure spanning an open space underneath it. Arches may support the load above them, or they may perform a purely decorative role. The steady horizontal push of an arch against the abutments gave rise to a saying “the arch never sleeps”, attributed to many sources, from Hindu to Arabs. “Saoud” explains the proverb by chain-like self-balancing of the horizontal and vertical forces in the Arch and its “universal adaptability”.
